I HATE blocking people. Honestly I hate even deleting comments. With that... I have to say get yourself a team around you that knows you and knows your heart and wants badly to make sure that your peace is protected. So real talk, the worst comments (like the really dark heart comments) usually don’t even get to me. I usually don’t even see them. This post here was in response to a friend who was at an event I did called “A Safe Place” I talk about it in my book. Yes that safe place. I didn’t have to delete his comment or block him. He shared his respectful thoughts. I responded. We took it off line and gave a virtual dap to each other and kept it moving. With love and respect. We did that because that is how it should work. Yesterday I posted about the Queen in an attempt to show empathy for those that her death may have been hard for. Also to show grace in recognizing that leadership can bring monumental and life altering missteps. I smiled at the folks who felt the need to educate me on what QEII had done over her life as if I have ever just flippantly posted something connected with The Tyler Merritt Project without weighing every word that I share with you all. Please understand that I know the weight of my words and the power that they have. I just kept wanting to say to please to google the (I believe 1996) Mike Wallace interview that he had with Louis Farrakhan on 60 Minutes. (Revisited recently in Jay-Z’s verse on Khaled’s GOD DID). True leadership is an impossible responsibility. All that to say, I will not always get it right. But I will always try my best to be respectful, have empathy, grace and do my darndest to have understanding for lives that have been lived differently than my own. It’s my hope, that you my friend would do the same. Oh yeah back to blocking. Disrespect folks in this community and you will be asking yourself, “Why can’t I see Tyler’s page anymore?!??” Cause blocked.
