The entrance hall at our Cornish country house project. Despite having three staircases (!) in the centre of the house none of them actually led to the entrance hall, so your fist impression upon entering felt a bit abrupt and like a road to nowhere! To create a sense of arrival, whilst maintaining the simplicity of the space, we fitted panes of antique mirror to the arch at the end of the hall. Now the space feels so much longer and grander and the view of the parkland is endless. The plan was eventually to hang a piece of contemporary art over the mirror. What do you think? Go ahead with this - a nice juxtaposition between old and new? Or leave as is and let the view do the talking? 📸 @simonuptonphotos
