As I write this, I am sitting on the same chair Cal and I used to sit on together and watch the sunset. It’s weird how a chair that used to feel so small now feels so incredibly big. I am thinking about how some people will never know what it is like to experience undeniable and unresting love from a dog; I pity them. To know Cal was to immediately love him— the sweetest boy who only ever needed a ball and maybe some shredded cheese to have a great day. Yesterday, my favorite boy took his last breath while surrounded by all his favorite people before he was welcomed into heaven by someone he’s waited a long time to see— I find peace in knowing that my dad is going to take care of him from here. I miss you more than words could ever say. I’ll see you when I’m all grown up. 🤍
