My team and I drove 3 hours to Lander, WY this week to do a free skin cancer screening event with my fellow derm @tlquest, sponsored by @skincancerorg. The nonprofit Destination Healthy Skin initiative is a program in which a van with a mobile clinic is driven all over the US to provide free skin cancer screenings to areas in need. This was their first time ever holding it in Wyoming. We found a bunch of skin cancers and derm conditions, and people seemed really grateful that we were there. Two of our patients had just popped out of the desert to replace their water filter during a multi-month backpacking trip from Mexico to Canada, and had stumbled upon our screening, so that was pretty funny. We also snuck in a visit to @sinkscanyonsp and fished in the morning before the screening, and even got to check out the beloved #LanderBar for some giant burgers and brews the night before.
