for @dazed’s summer issue, i wrote about the importance of making and preserving art during war — and the ways in which this serves as an act of political resistance. i spoke to numerous young artists from around the globe whose work was created during — or is directly inspired by — their experiences with violence and conflict, including creatives who are currently in or have recently fled Ukraine, Palestine, South Sudan, Afghanistan and Ethiopia. thank you to the young talents who were brave and gracious enough to open their hearts and, in many cases, share their trauma and recount painful memories with me for this piece. i learned so much from you — and the world is so lucky to have you and your art.
