A quick update… Some of you are probably still wandering why I broke off & made this new account under Jake Herring… This post is a quick explanation of my decision to do so… After moving from LA to Nashville at the end of 2021 I knew I was beginning to figure out who I truly was as a creative. You can begin to hear hints of this on the BabyJake album titled “The Sun Wakes Up Earlier Now” with songs like “Daddy’s Coming Home” and “Watching.” Internally it was becoming clear that whatever music I was writing / recording that broke me into the industry was no longer filling my cup… And to all the creatives who feel a bit like they are running in circles right now… Let’s not forget, at the end of the day it’s ALL about filling your cup. That being said, moving to Nashville was not only an opportunity for change, but also an opportunity for growth. I soon realized that the “live recording” process I seemed to constantly admire from Alternative acts throughout the years was alive & well in Music City. I learned a lot about recording with musicians & eventually a full band. It opened my eyes to all the possibilities & quite honestly made me nerd out myself within the production & engineering space. Nowadays I can’t seem to stop buying gear from 1973 that has a horrible buzz & breaks every 6 months & more often than not is a “one trick pony” as they say… but hey it fills my cup… All this to say, if you’ve been following my journey as BabyJake for the last 4 years you’ve seen & heard quite a lot of diversity & experimentation… However, the time has come to be born anew. Jake Herring (Fun fact: my legal name) is a fresh start & something I can truly say I am excited for. It will be music that solely exists in the Alternative space. No EDM features, no rap verses… And not because Im some avant-garde genius… But just because it makes me happy & is the music I want to live with & perform with until the end of my days. To anyone who has supported me throughout the 10 years I’ve been in this industry for… Thank you & I’ll try my best not to let you down as we take a leap of faith together in this next chapter of my musical journey. I am forever grateful. xoxo - Jake
