Howdy 👋 seems some folks recently left (buh-bye) but a lot of new folks showed up! I’m overdue for an introduction so here’s a chance to get to know me! I’m Cara, AKA the dietitian behind Street Smart Nutrition. I’m an ex-college athlete who still likes to lift heavy things and run a few miles every once in a while, I get to travel a lot for work and for fun, and I live in a really old building with a really new kitchen my partner and I built together last year. I started working in very corporate healthcare before transitioning to full-time self-employment. Now I spend my days doing a little of everything! It’s 75% fun because my routine is always changing, I get to be creative, and I work on things that hold a lot of meaning and value for me. It’s 25% not-so-fun because of the less glamorous side of running a small biz but I think it’s more than a fair trade for now. I’m proud to be mixed-race Korean American, and even though I don’t make that front & center of what I share here, I do choose to talk about it sometimes. I practice through a weight-inclusive lens, I talk about using a non-diet approach for health and happiness, I drop F-bombs and other expletives at leisure, and I don’t tolerate intolerance. You can find me online, on TikTok, working in private practice, sharing from farm tours and speaking events and conferences in various time zones, and in between I’m probably at a coffee shop because that’s one of the only things that can get me out of bed in the morning. I don’t drink it for the caffeine at this point. I drink it because I’m fully Pavlovian conditioned and operate best when I’m slightly anxious.
