The whole idea seems so insulting, and the very definition of entitlement. It’s been a white noise I’ve tuned out since I was a kid. Couldn’t even tell you the name of the monarch before Elizabeth, who, with the collusion of politicians and the media managed to maintain the illusion of impartiality. Charles hasn’t. He assumes (love that word) the throne with a very public track record of political interference and dubious tax behaviour among other things. But at least that’s all in the open from the get-go. We’ll see.
