#EXHIBITION Floating Truth 2022. 10. 26 – 2022. 11. 27 Gana Art Nineone Gana Art is pleased to present Floating Truth, a group exhibition that highlights the distinctive visual languages of five contemporary female artists who capture the moment of truth, as it floats up to the surface in our everyday lives. The exhibition brings together works by Nicole Dyer (@steakbagel) who had her first solo exhibition in Asia at Gana Art Sounds in 2021 and Betty Tompkins (@bettytompkinsart), one of the key figures in feminist art in the US, as well as three Korean artists Hyungji Park (@hyungji_park), yoohee (@yooheec), and Jooyoung Lee (@jooyoung.art) who work actively both inside and outside Korea. Through the lenses of the five artists, Gana Art hopes that the exhibition will provide an opportunity for the audience to search for a truth hidden beneath the surface with fresh eyes. 가나아트는 평범한 일상에서 진실이 수면 위로 떠 오르는 순간을 포착하는 여성 작가 5인의 그룹전 《Floating Truth》를 개최한다. 본 전시는 작년 가나아트 사운즈에서 국내 첫 개인전을 가지며 많은 주목을 받은 니콜 다이어, 미국 여성주의 미술에서 중요한 인물 중 하나로 억압된 여성의 정체성을 수면 위로 드러내는 베티 톰킨스, 작업 과정에서 일어나는 ‘실패’의 흔적을 드러냄으로써 완성품으로 보여지는 작품의 이면을 마주하게 하는 박형지, 현대인의 일상에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 장면에 자신의 상상을 더하여 익숙한 삶에 대한 사유를 촉발하는 유희, 그리고 언어 범람의 시대에 매 순간 발화되고 떠다니는 언어와 이를 받아들이는 수동적인 인식 과정에 의문을 제기하는 이주영의 작품으로 구성되었다. 이번 전시가 동시대 여성 작가들의 다채로운 예술 세계를 탐험하게 하고, 현상 이면에 가려진 본질을 들여다보게 하는 뜻깊은 자리가 되기를 기대한다.
