TECHNIQUE & EXIF: Stack / Blend • Canon 5D Mark iii + Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 @ 15mm • 10 stacked exposures at f/2.8, 15 sec, ISO 8000 each • a stack of 4 additional exposures (f/4, 30 sec, ISO 8000) was blended (a focus stack) into the bottom portion of the foreground for a little added DOF • Low Level Landscape Lighting (@lowlevellighting or LLL): an LED light panel, about 500 feet to the left created the closest foreground detail. A second LED light panel behind the berm backlighted the tree (to make it appear as if it's being backlighted by the Milky Way core). That light also lit the grey "brain-rock" to the left of the tree. Photographed in October, when the MW is very vertical and the core quickly slips below the horizon shortly after the Astronomical Dusk begins.
