Before I transferred to Fordham, I auditioned for a sketch comedy team at BU. Despite the fact that I was practically foaming at the mouth to be the next Kristen Wiig, I was nervous. So nervous that I froze in the audition and flopped big time. It made me second guess myself and I kind of gave up on my dream for a while. Transferring to Fordham energized me. It tipped the scales so the excitement outweighed the fear and that’s when I started Stove’s. A place where anyone who wanted to try comedy could join. A place that offered people a chance to open up in their own time. A place to make loving and supportive friendships. Comedy is a lot less intimidating when your friends are by your side. The fear and excitement go hand in hand. Stove’s is about embracing the fear and using it as fuel. It’s about letting vulnerability guide you to new beautiful places. I can’t express how special it was to get to see how this spirit of Stove’s has carried on over the past ten years. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has helped this community continue. I hope you all keep letting those scales tip and discover what you are capable of. Stove’s forever!!
