When the switch flipped in my mind to see gray hair as acceptable, beautiful and right for me, a lot changed in my life. For me, walking around with a constant underlying shame about something natural for my body was not a healthy place to be. My inner critic took on society’s ageist mentality without a lot of thought until I started to realize those thoughts weren’t actually my own. When the switch flips (your perspective shifts/you recognize how you’re speaking to yourself), then the work can begin to undo all we’ve been exposed to. It may not be gray hair for you, but I encourage you to question your inner critic and start speaking kindly to yourself.
