A collaboration between @yallahcoffee @foam.bundoran and @jamesbowdown Film and edit by @jamesbowdown Original sounds by @jackabbottphotography Book design by @diggory.gordon.design —- Myself and Rich had been talking about doing another sourcing trip since our last trip out to Central America together in 2018, the first trip for me, in which surfing and coffee collided. When our good friend Noah opened his cafe in Bundoran and began his coffee journey, I knew he would be a perfect addition to our idea. Perhaps it started as an unashamed way of going on another surf trip, but then there was something magical about the blending of those two passions of ours. From the sticky mud of the high mountain farms, where the coffee grows strong, to the burning sands of the pacific coast that form the shapely waves we surfers seek. The connection may seem tenuous to some but for us, they both held stories, stories of the land, of the sea, of the people and of changes, both positive and negative, social and environmental. Personally, I actually learnt just as much (perhaps about myself) from the trials and tribulations of seemingly insignificant wave chasing, as I did from meeting the farmers and workers in the mountain villages, living in a world away from my life at home.
