I spent a lot of time ‘in trouble’ as a kid. Getting grounded, getting demerits, writing sentences like Bart Simpson, you name it. I used to think there were two types of people- good ones and bad ones. Because of my disciplinary history I considered myself bad. What a spiral. Bad ultimately = going to hell. In hindsight I was a normal kid. Maybe more anxious than most. But the binary categories I grew up with made my anxiety almost unbearable. I just had no vocabulary for it all.
