Here’s Paul Ramee, Jr. - why I wanted to talk about golf today. Paul taught me - or kept trying to teach me - how to play golf. I’ve been lucky to have a few great teachers in life and Paul was one of them. He agreed to caddy for me at the 2007 AT&T Pro Am (pictured) and coached me to a 76 gross (that’s a pretty good score, fyi) at Poppy Hills. My wonderful professional partner, Rory Sabbatini, after the round said: “Pete, how come you played like shit yesterday and you played great today?” I pointed at Paul and said: “ because of that guy.” After what seemed like a brief illness Paul died last month of leukemia at 53 leaving behind his wonderful wife and 3 boys and a lot of broken hearts - and golf swings. The last picture is of a memorial at his teaching station at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club - an unsolicited remembrance from his staff. Godspeed Paul!
