I experienced the first real example of a Persol Striped logo in 2011. I had only seen it in books and catalogues until then. Since then, we have unearthed some flawless examples with 18 karat gold inlays and the gold trimmed meflecto system. Made by hand in the 1970s, the inlay work has a textural quality that is unmatched today.
This logo was originally trademarked by the Ratti family in Torino and is rumoured to NOT have been sold to Luxottica in the acquisition.
Now shared for a limited time on Stòffa (@stoffa) as part of the Rare Objects series.
