WOMEN OVER 50 ROCK What a great night for women last night at the @televisionacad awards were .specifically for women over 50. All the women below I’ve been watching since the day I’ve come to this country 30 years ago. Save for @geenadavisorg who had a more star like career, the others have been in the trenches since day one so to watch women like @thesherylleeralph and @theofficialjencoolidge @realjeansmart get their due at this time of their lives is so affirming Sheryl Lee Ralph:So thrilled for her . what a rousing speech through song.to see a fellow woman of color around the same age get acknowledged brought tears to my eyes. I really feel what she said deeply . on the red carpet when she said if you don’t make it in your 20s then your 30s if not 30s then 40s if not your 40s you have your 50s all you have to do is keep believing in yourself. Dear fellow sister woman of color same age as me , I hear you see you love you Sheryl called us an endangered species. She is right . We may be an endangered species but isn’t that why we should be protected, preserved , respected and looked after better than anyone else.? And we are not always. Even though we have more wisdom, clarity, good judgment and discipline than the younger generations Whiteness and youth have always won the day in Hollywood . I hope last night proves a slight shift . women like us , we know this business inside out . we can produce your show, we can write your show , we can Direct your show. in fact on many occasions I have stepped in for all three when things were going wrong but we are not given our due .
