Presenting this brand new PTS Acid Green (acidgrün; non-metallic UNI; 2M8) 718 Cayman GT4 RS, delivered to @porschesouthorlando in Orlando, Florida. Acid Green has an interesting history. While there are several accounts regarding the true origin of this color, Acid Green is best known as the signature accent color for Porsche’s E-Hybrid lineup, dating as far back as the 918 Spyder Concept which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010, where the color graced the brake calipers and rear badge accents of the design study. It later served as the accent color for the 997 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder in 2012, specifically on the brake calipers, badging, and exterior mirror lower trims. On regular series production cars, Acid Green emerged as an accent color in 2013 when Porsche made the switch from a traditional hybrid offered on the Cayenne and Panamera to E-Hybrid, the company’s moniker for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology. All E-Hybrid Porsches are easily identifiable by Acid Green brake calipers and badge accents on the fenders and rear fascia. As far as which car was the first to be fully painted in Acid Green (excluding any color feasibility test cars), the 918 Spyder is known to take this title, with mixed accounts of 2 to 4 examples worldwide being finished in this color. The story adds up because it makes sense that at least one customer would have wanted to extend the 918’s Acid Green accents to the full body of the car. Since its introduction as a PTS color on the 918, Acid Green has become a consistently popular PTS choice among the sports cars lineup, especially on the 991.2 GT models. It is available as a Paint-to-Sample color today on the 718, 992, and Taycan models. As for this particular car, this Weissach Package example sports the optional forged magnesium wheels painted in Satin Black, which are paired with optional PCCB with High Gloss Black calipers. The elusive LED headlights with PDLS+ are found here, as are the window triangles in carbon fiber. No photos of the interior, but we can see the optional Full Bucket Seats inside.
