November 11, 2025. Veterans Day. November 11, 2025. Veterans Day. We celebrate Veterans Day on November 11 because the holiday’s origin traces back to the end of World War I which came to a close on November 11, 1918 at 11 am. For that reason most Veterans Day celebrations start at 11 am. As I have proceeded into old age, the days I spent in the military to earn veteran status seem more unusual when compared to these many years of civilian life. When I served, like many, I was young and willing to do just about anything asked of me, and it was an honor and a privilege to do so. Now I’m incapable of performing many of the tasks I carried out with ease as a Navy SEAL. For combat veterans, the war experiences seem to occupy a more significant place in our lives than is healthy, but that is the way of the thing. Happy Veterans Day!
