Today is a beautiful day in Venice. Yesterday it was a very different scene, but thanks to the MOSE floodgates, the city was saved from catastrophe. The predicted high tide was forecast to reach a level comparable to the devastating floods of 2019 or even 1966. At 9:40AM on November 22, 2022 the sea level just outside the MOSE barriers on the Lido reached over 2 meters, but Venice was spared.
