We have never had a prayer room/mandir/ temple in our house. I don’t say this with pride or shame, but just as a matter of fact. I grew up with a very strong sense of religion in my house. I can recite mantras and bhajans at the drop of a hat. They’re engraved in my muscle memory for life and still the first thing that come to my mind when I am going through a difficult time. But slowly as I started getting older, I found myself more spiritually inclined rather than religiously inclined. I found myself finding quieter time for inward prayers and affirmations more often and although I still find mandirs, gurudwaras, masjid, churches and religious sites extremely peaceful, I don’t always need something in-front of me to pray to. The first few photos you see are from last week from a pre- Diwali get together at our place and if you swipe ahead you’ll see images of our first Diwali together in the Philippines after we got married, a few years ago. I still remember I was extremely tired from work but was adamant on decorating the house and making a ‘pooja ki thali’. We prayed to a laptop that was playing the aarti on YouTube and it still goes down as one of my most memorable Diwalis. Not much has changed since. Not my choice of fashion and colour for sure! And not my belief, that God truly is everywhere, not in one place or an idol but just in that inner voice that’s always guiding you silently, where ever in the world you go. ✨ Are you religious? Spiritual? Tell me in the comments. — My Anarkali white suit is @aachho and earrings are from @kangan_amritsar. The old white suit is custom made.
