For most of us our barrios are an extension of our souls, and our culture is seen and felt on every street and on every corner.
Our barrios and parks reflect our community, culture and sensibilities. Parks in our neighbohoods are central hubs and connectors to activities for people of all backgrounds.
On this Hispanic Heritage Month, meet the group of individuals that represent the many that bring their culture and vibracy to our parks through their talents, resources, enthusiasm, values and traditions.
We’re proud to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized from September 15 to October 15 in the United States.
Join us at one of these events to celebrate the culture and history of Latin Americans. Many of the events will feature cultural exhibits, arts & crafts, music, and dance, in recognition of the contributions made by Latin Americans to our society. For more info., follow the link in BIO.
Latino/a Voices in the Parks
The Chicago Park District is privileged to be comprised of a diverse team of professionals with eclectic cultural backgrounds that influence the cultural landscape of neighborhood parks located in communities across the city.
From the 606 on the west to Big Marsh on the south and North Park Village Nature Center to the north, Latinos(as) have been making an impact on the lives of the people that visit the parks where they work to bring enriching programs and services. Follow the link in BIO to meet some of the individuals making a difference in our parks.
