Florist’s new album is not your typical chill out folk record. Sonically, it’s uniqueness is in its chosen contrast between soft country tinged vocals and experimental instrumental interludes. Lyrically — it is often dark and grief ridden. In many ways, it is a continuation of the last Florist release. It expands on the painful loss of the mother of the singer and primary songwriter, Emily Sprague, expressed in 2019’s “Emily Alone”. This one is less stark, only because of its instrumental breaks and a new feeling that nears hope and healing. “I can hear your singing still Wake up in the morning, let the morning come Sing me a song, please sing me a song I can hear you singing still Wake up in the morning, let the morning come She's in the bird song, she won't be gone” We caught the band at @boweryballroom Saturday night for a soothing, intimate set. 📸 by @alyssa.goldberg for @soundsofsaving
