Yesterday’s inaugural OC 3x3 tournament that supported the youth program I currently coach in via @ocjgba was a huge success and a really fun event to be a part of! Not only did it support the local girls basketball youth program, but the @ochs.girlsbball players, coaches, and alumni all participated in it as well. Parents, spouses, family, and friends came out to watch ALL of us, from the old ladies bracket (yup, that’s me 🙋🏼‍♀️) to the youngest of athletes just beginning their journeys with the game of basketball. We are so thankful for all who turned out to play and all those who made it possible to do so - from sponsors to volunteers to set up, run concessions, track brackets, the refs, etc. The list of all that it takes to run events like this is long, it was a huge effort by many. 👏🏻 These videos captured were shared with me, otherwise I’d have no other proof as to why my entire body is so sore today. 👵🏻😮‍💨 Most ladies in the women’s bracket reluctantly retired our bball shoes years ago due to injuries that eventually end your ability to go on, then add childbirth for most all of us, age, and not playing often enough... and well, coming back out of retirement to play in events like this is quite simply DANGEROUS! Thankfully we all survived the day, but will be hurting and recouping our bodies for a few more at least. 🤣👵🏻🏀💪🏻😜 It was worth it though, and I can’t thank my bball sisters enough for coming out of retirement and supporting a great cause - the next generation of lady ballers! 🥰 It feels good to give back to the programs that gave so much to me/us. 🙏🏻🏀
