Madonna gonna Madonna--i.e. writhe around on the floor in fishnet stockings--no matter what you say. What I care about is the criticism around a woman “not acting her age." Scroll through posts on @madonna and you'll see dozens of comments reminding her that she's 64; on TikTok, the hashtag "Madonna too old" has 2.8 billion views. This is alarming to me because age positivity shouldn't expire when someone turns 40 or 60 or 80. Suddenly shaming a woman who has gleefully trafficked in vulgarity throughout her career because she's a baby boomer is discrimination. Is Madonna supposed to shop at Chico's now too? Some folks feel justified in admonishing Madonna for using fillers--and claim she's afraid to age naturally. So what? How we mature is up to us, as individuals. By 2050, 88.5 million Americans will be over 65. (That's a 105% increase since 2015.) I'll be one of them. And hopefully, like Madonna, I won't care what anyone thinks about how I act at any age.
