Some double news for shoulder season: I recently received both a creation grant from the Vermont Arts Council and an unrestricted artist award from the Tanne Foundation. The former is for a new book and the latter to support my continuing practice. There have been a lot of rejections on the way to these—the creation grant in particular is the first project grant I've ever applied for and gotten. I keep returning to the idea that it only takes one—one acceptance for a manuscript, one grant that works out—to keep the work going as it always does out of public view. I'm deeply grateful to receive both of these tokens of support right now.
