“Friends joke I’m a mover with an eye,” says the affable star interiors stylist Colin King (last image) who has built an impressive career on his intuitive art of the edit: On set, @colinking often experiments with compositions again and again, seeking to determine “what the moment isn’t, until I find what the moment is.” King brought this spirit of discovery to his own live/work Manhattan loft, which is a study in his preferred neutral color palette and the calm, collected vibe he has mastered for so many clients (including AD). King found beautiful pine after sanding the previously dark stained floors, and plastered the entire space at the suggestion of his friends @kampstudios. He lived with 15 paint colors before settling on a custom beige; installed bespoke doors; and designed an oversized daybed and sofa (built on-site) to anchor the vast living space. “I’ve always believed in the mystical power of objects,” says King, who is much followed on Instagram for his vignettes of household items. At home, surrounded by his chosen objects, the non-stop traveler says “When I’m here it’s about reconnecting with myself and my people. This is a place to nurture my hub.” Look for King’s first book, “Arranging Things” in March 2023. Full story in November AD and link in bio. 📷 @rvstapleton styling @colinking text @samuelcochran
