This was one of the biggest days of my life as a woman of color and as an entrepreneur 💜 I’ve spent the past few days a little depressed and sad about the lack of funding for BIPOC beauty brands and women. I’m talking about the funding that allows you to keep your business and stay 100% owned. I’ll be honest, I cried like a baby for 2 days last week because I got the 17th bank loan I’ve applied for, denied to me. I’m the first Xicana and Indigenous owned beauty brand to sell in a mega retailer, and I can’t get funding. Wanna know why? Because my first 3 years in business have been loses. I’ve taken everything I have and have poured it all into @pradosbeauty 💜 I have paid myself 5 times since Prados launched in 2019. I spend 100% of our revenue on my employees, product, rent, electricity and giving back to our communities. I started Prados Beauty to create space for BIPOC in the beauty industry. I wanted to create something that would allow me to break the glass sealing and create generational wealth for my family, my employees and artists we collab with. I started Prados so that when shit hit the fan, we had resources to help our communities and our people without the assistance of anyone. This is my dream. It’s my hope. It’s my life work. And none of this has or would have been possible without the love and support I receive from our communities and supporters. No matter if we out here tryin to find ways to grow the business, we always have our day 1’s in mind. We have some amazing things coming very soon and it’s dedicated all to you! Thank you for allowing this little brown girl from the sticks to be a world changer 💪🏽🪶🌎💜
