This is the final week of Prospect 5, and the final week that my P.5 exhibition “In This Here Place” will be on view at The Historic New Orleans Collection. The three channel video work “Evergreen” and a selection of eight large scale photographs, made on and around the landscapes of five different Louisiana plantations, closes on Sunday, January 23rd. I want to again thank the P.5 co-curators Naima Keith and Diana Nawi for including me in this iteration of Prospect, “Yesterday we said tomorrow,” and to give a big shout out to my team in NOLA, including Jenny Bagert my project manager, Bron Moyi, the cinematographer who shot “Evergreen” as well as producing a short documentary, “Dawoud Bey: In the Landscape of Slavery,” L Kasimu Harris, who did all of the photographic documentation. Thanks and respect to imani uzuri, who composed and performed the riveting soundscape for “Everygreen.” P.5 took place under very trying circumstances—what with the ongoing pandemic and Hurricane Ida—so it’s realization was no small task. So kudos to the entire Prospect team. Thanks to the team at Sean Kelly Gallery for their support and efficient professionalism. Big thanks to everyone who made it to New Orleans to view the work, and everyone on the Historic New Orleans staff who made it such a pleasure to work with that institution. @naimajoy @nawinawinawi @_free_forms_ #nickstillman @meanwhile_backattheranch @visit_thnoc @jennybagert @bronmoyi @imaniuzuri @visionsandverbs @seankellyny
