Critically ill newborns need their family to be as close as possible. 💙 We’re thrilled to share images of the new family spaces in the @sickkidstoronto neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) thanks to the support of Huggies. Our 41-bed NICU is one of the busiest in Canada. Most days it runs at capacity and demand is growing. These updates aim to make it easier for families to stay close, provide skin-to-skin contact, and help their newborns heal. Divided into “zones,” the open concept space will hopefully make the hospital feel more like home by providing: 🤍 A kitchenette & a lounge 🤍 A quiet space with sleeper chairs 🤍 A private meeting room 🤍 Breast pumping areas This space aims to help caregivers reduce stress, engage in self-care and connect with other families so they are better able to care for their babies. We’re incredibly grateful to @GrowWithHuggies for their generosity and support of our NICU patients and families.
