Sarah and Matt first reached out to us in 2019 to capture their intimate wedding in Iceland the following year. It’s not just another beautiful place to them, it’s actually where they met and fell in love. They were both doing the famous Laugavegur trek when life brought them together - a freakin’ epic way to meet the love of your life, I’d say. Well, we all know what happened in 2020 - their intimate wedding eventually got pushed back to 2022. So much time had passed from when we first talked to them. When they booked us, our style was a lot different. We used a lot of slow motion and effects, focusing more on making it look and feel “cool” (at least it felt cool to us lol). We love looking back at that phase of our craft and the videos we created. Yet, our style is so different now. We’ve grown since, and with growth comes change. With that in mind, we still wanted to make sure we could create something for Sarah and Matt that not only stayed true to us and our style, but also reflected what they originally envisioned when booking us. Dramatic. Emotional. Maybe even a little dark and moody. Slow motion might be one of the easiest ways to help achieve all of that, but we hardly ever shoot slow motion any more. If we do, it’s very intentional and minimal. We like not being able to rely on it because in turn, it forces us to be truly present and aware. Instead of falling back into our old approach which would have been much safer, we took a risk and really leaned into what makes our work different. We’re happy to say that they absolutely loved it and it was definitely worth the risk. We only used one slow motion shot in this video. Can you figure out which one it is?
