While working on my book I’m reminded of why Im deserving of all the great things ahead. This journey started with so many unavoidable adversities. Voices around me saying “ Being your most authentic self is bad”. Be who I say you are and not how you feel. It saddens me that trans youth who are in homes or communities that are loving and accepting of them may have to relocate. Simply because some state and local elected officials really want a trans genocide. It’s amazing Youth like @shear_avory who truly deserve her flowers. @shear_avory is a multi-racial, Black and Indigenous, Trans-Gender-Non-Conforming femme youth of color and advocate/ public speaker and so much more. I had the honor of speaking at her Inaugural @queeryouthxchange conference at #snapchatheadquarter in Santa Monica. I also had the honor of meeting the amazing @legacy.bqpc and watch them perform. If you don’t know about them already head on over to their page. I say all this to say trans youth are out here thriving and changing the narrative that we can only be survivors and not thrivers. If you are a trans youth and you see this post know this former Trans Youth who was a homeless, Sex worker, Raped multiple times is now smiling as an adult because they made it through and that’s all because I remained my most authentic self. My battle scars from the name calling, rejection , public humiliation and shaming I experienced only made me stronger. You may have to go through a battle but once the war is over the victory party is some much fun. To the family and communities that are supporting trans youth THANK YOU SO MUCH. No youth should have to depend on survival tactics when we are Youth! We should be able to blossom into whatever adult version of ourselves that we want to become. Protect us don’t judge us!
