We have our heading! Miss America, here we come! They say if you can count a full 10 people that you feel can make you unconditionally happy, you can call yourself lucky and loved. Picture this... The clearest of blue skies, sail boats passing by, a gentle waft of the most delicious eggs Benedict, and a room of not 10...not 20...but 80 of the most important people in my life at various points of my personal development. From my aunts who quite literally carried me as a diaper baby to my best friend from ballroom dancing, to my Miss Sonoma County‘s outstanding teen committee to my Miss San Francisco family, to the community that embraced me when I first moved to San Francisco to The Miss California organization that has given me the platform, the best of friends, and the confidence to serve this great state, I am humbly and eternally gratefully yours. Needless to say, this may be the first time in my life that I actually cried tears of joy. The feeling of being overtaken by so much love, patience, nurturing is some thing that I will never be able to capture and just two words: thank you. In my Send off speech I joked that this celebration may dwarf any wedding I might ever have in the future. It is true though, this “ road to the crown” it’s not a journey or responsibility that I bear alone.
