I had the honor of participating in the @borrowedspotlight exhibition opening — part of the Holocaust Portrait Project by the amazing @brycethompson. I finally got to see the art and the book up close, and it truly moved me.
As part of this project, I had the privilege of meeting Holocaust survivor Yetta Kane.
This was deeply personal for me — my own grandmother fled Europe during the Holocaust, and her story has always shaped who I am.
Projects like this are more than just art. They’re sacred acts of remembrance.
At just 8 years old, Yetta served as a courier for the Partisan resistance, helping fight the Nazis from within. Out of 400 family members, only three survived. “We survived,” she told me, “because we were under God’s wings for over three and a half years in the forest.”
Her strength, her grace, and her light will stay with me forever. Thank you Yetta.
