When I got there, the staff didn’t know who I was and almost didn’t allow me on the carpet. That’s not their fault of course, but it shows that many times what is lacking is not just representations but actual inclusion. They chose an activist as part of their Icons list— OF COURSE IM BRINGING A SIGN. Thank to everyone who made this possible including @harpersbazaarus because they had the courage to uplift climate justice voices. However, it’s not just about how it looks in the magazine, it’s also about how we are received in these spaces, and we all have to work on including climate solutions into organizations and institutions.
