Day to Night Project - The Old Ones. _ This is shot number 2/2 from my trip to this area back at the start of the year. With the forecast of clear skies I went with the expectation that I'll be able to do some star trails against these ancient granite tors. The reality was very different. I struggled to find a composition that I was happy with and also aligned nicely with the movement of the stars. After shooting my first shot from here I had the entire next day to think about how I would go about incorporating star trails. I eventually settled on this one. Shooting this was a bit rougher than the first night. It was windier and there was a higher amount of moisture in the air that you could feel. Despite the discomfort it was amazing to watch the night sky pass by in such a dark and remote area next to these ancient tors. The sheer length of time it must have taken to erode the land enough for these giants to stick up like this is mind boggling. 364 shots taken for the stars over 3hours General scene and horizon glow taken during blue hour before sunrise Sunlight taken at sunrise.
