Just announced: The Art Gallery's upcoming exhibition program, for both our new building and our revitalised existing building. Read more! 👇 From 3 December 2022 in our new building: • Visitors will be welcomed by the inaugural display of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in the relocated Yiribana Gallery on entrance level. The display is inspired by ideas of generosity and care and emphasises connections between people. • 'Dreamhome: Stories of Art and Shelter', with artists from around the world sharing their dreams of home. • 'Making Worlds' features ideas of mapping, time, creation and connection. • 'Outlaw' celebrates the antiheroes of popular culture in the Art Gallery’s first purpose-built new media gallery. In our much-loved existing building, visitors can journey through time, ideas, human stories and contested histories, including: • 'From Here, for Now', from 8 October 2022, presenting works that begin with Australia’s outback as a signifier of national identity, connecting this with American stereotypes of outsiders, and hidden histories. • 'ARTEXPRESS 2023' – from 1 February 2023 this dynamic annual exhibition celebrates its 40th year at the Art Gallery. • 'The National 4: Australian Art Now', a biennial survey of contemporary Australian art opening 24 March 2023. • 'Archibald, Wynne & Sulman Prizes 2023', Australia's most engaging art event opening 6 May 2024. • 20th-century galleries – currently featuring works from our Australian and international collections over two levels. • Asian Lantern galleries – featuring current exhibitions 'Correspondence', marking important moments in Asian art and history, and 'Elemental', which investigates the natural elements of earth, water and fire. • Grand Courts – focus on the Art Gallery’s historical collections, enlivened by contemporary voices that encourage moments of pause and reflection. __ Installation view of Yiribana Gallery feat.
