Amen Muffler _ Long post alert...I've got a lot to process. 😬😬😬 Today marked the end of 20 years teaching with Omaha Public Schools. I have not been happy with my job for awhile (I was struggling pre-pandemic but that sure exacerbated things). I was feeling pretty ineffective and worthless as a teacher. There were a myriad of reasons why, and ultimately I knew I needed a change. I started researching options outside of education and even started rewriting my resume but I knew in my heart I am a teacher. I couldn't see myself doing anything other than slinging paint with elementary aged kiddos. Today I moved 21 boxes of my things into my classroom at a new school in a new district. I am so very hopeful that this is the change I need to finish strong for the last 10 years (who knows, maybe I won't retire early?!) of my teaching career. This bright and colorful film soup image of an old abandoned schoolhouse (its there, you can barely see it) is a perfect illustration of how I felt so defeated but now I have hope.
