QUEER STORIES ON OUR SCREENS! Season Premier of Self Care is live today and it’s got me in all the feels. From a little broken hearted human wanting to see more stories that reflected my own on screen, to launching a web series with two of the most talented humans @hannah_rae_meegan @moni_alexx ✨ Baby Kath is crying in their seat! I knew I was queer from a very young age. But kept myself closeted at the fear of being ostracised from society. How could I not think this when I couldn’t see myself being reflected anywhere. If I did it was all about our trauma. Don’t get me wrong, those stories are important because they are the history of who we are and how much we had to fight for the rights we have today. But Queer people also have joy and the mundane (like getting your little heart broken). We feel, we cry, we laugh, we dance, we sing... WE LIVE (werk, vogue). On Mardi Gras Parade day I want to reflect and honour those who fought for our rights back in 1978. It is because of my elders I am even able to sit here as an out Lesbian plugging my own funded web series filled with beautiful queer bodies. I also want to celebrate our community taking up space! As much space as we want to because we can. We aren’t just “happy to be here”, we are HERE and QUEER and MF PROUD OF IT.
