Tbh I’m *still* buzzing about last weeks ‘Celebrating You’ event as part of East & South East Asian Heritage Month. I never set out to be a content creator. It never occurred to me to seek out the (curly) Asian community. I was just fed up of my frizzy hair and wanted to document my progress through photos. When I was 8 I got grounded for using the last of the mayonnaise as a DIY face pack, and the first time I met one of my best friends my hair was wrapped up in plastic straws because I was trying out a heatless corkscrew curls look. So when @besea.n asked me to host the ESEA beauty panel it was a real moment of validation for 7 year old Jade who didn’t have a huge connection to her Asian Heritage, nor any Asian friends or role models to look up to. This moment was for her 🪷 Leaning into my love of hair and skincare has lead me to connect with so many of you, whether in the ESEA community or the curly community, and it’s been a life-altering journey that I’m so grateful for 🤍 7 year old Jade never would have imagined those Saturday night Superdrug mud packs would turn into working with brilliant women and new friends @karen_lt_66 @wearewo_uk @amrasbeautyblog @skimcareee @theedit_dh @belle124___ A huge thank you to @besea.n for giving BESEA-ers both a platform and community, and to my friends who have not only supported my journey but participated in it with me every step of the way ❤️ Side note, I basically put it out into the universe that I wanted to host this years @eurovision 🎤🇪🇺 and two weeks later @itsvivyau reached out about hosting this event, so basically... I think the universe is getting me prepared 🤣 Ok let me stop going on like I’m accepting an Oscar (even though I feel like I am 😩❤️) #representASIAN #BritishBornChinese #ESEAHM22
