The eponymous painting from my solo, Incarnation, opening today at @friendsindeed_art is a continuation of the series I've been working on since 2018, placing elements of Sri Lankan Thovil or exorcism rituals among scenes from my life. I’ve been suprised that such a culturally specific and esoteric subject has resonated with people, but perhaps it's that these rituals and characters speak to something in the collective unconscious, especially for people whose ancestors practiced similar ones.
