As I celebrate another year of life today, I wanted to take the time to be intentional about honoring my roots. This past year, I’ve been looking inward with purpose and grace, and exploring my family history to discover more and more of myself. • I’ve been uncovering a lot through the relationships in my life– from past to present, whether those I love are with me in physical design or spiritually. Every time I find out something new about someone I consider family, it’s as if I get a new puzzle piece to the picture that’s me. • A dream of mine that I’m working on to bring to fruition is an exhibition show that commemorates my family, The Browns. Although the full exhibition is still a work in progress, it felt right to open the door by creating a gallery wall on a handball court to honor the people I’ll always love, no matter our form, for my birthday.
