Adjusting to slow country life has been subtly stimulating. I’ve been letting go of a sense of urgency that I’ve lived with for three decades, recognizing now that it comes from a place of fear - fear of missing an opportunity, a weather event, of running out of time.
This fear doesn’t serve me anymore. I have all the time I need, to do the things I’m meant to do. It’s ok for me to use my window to look outside on the foreign landscape in manageable, anti-overwhelming chunks constrained by the window frame, and to wait until tomorrow, or next week, or next month, to digest it all. One slow day at a time to make a new home.
