AHHH CATCH ME IN D.C. REPRESENTING ALL MY LATINOS, BIPOC, FIRST-GEN, LOW-INCOME FOLK! 🕺🏽 I’m incredibly honored to be 1 of 30 creators and mental health activists from across the country participating in the first-ever Mental Health Youth Action Forum! What’s it about you ask? 👀 @mtv along with 18 leading mental health non-profits (@active_minds, @jedfoundation, @asianmentalhealthcollective among some of the others) will be hosting the first-ever convening to empower young people to drive action on mental health through storytelling and media. Senior officials from the Biden-Harris Administration, including from the Department of Health and Human Services, are expected to speak at the Forum, which will culminate with a White House event. We’ll share our ideas to a diverse audience of media and technology professionals, government officials, and non-profit executives to help inform future creative public health campaigns related to mental health. ISN’T THIS AHHHH 🤯 To everyone at @mtv and all involved in the process, thank you for recognizing the power of my voice and giving me a seat at the table— one that I know I more than deserve. I started creating the content that I do because NO ONE ELSE WAS. I couldn’t find anyone having real, honest, and raw conversations— the ones that truly help my community unpack, process, and break generational cycles. Sure we’re starting to hear the word “healing” being thrown around way more than even a year ago but what does that even mean? To me, healing is a process, but most importantly, its collective action. But the work doesn’t stop behind my phone’s screen or on TikTok, we need to speak directly to those who influence the delivery and accessibility to mental health care across the country. There needs to be SIGNIFICANT policy and systemic change to make mental health resources more accessible. Which is why I’ll be showing up to the forum as my whole self FOR MYSELF Y POR MI COMUNIDAD!
