It can be hard sometimes to lift the veil on my personal life or when things get difficult because, through this business, I have the cherished responsibility of helping to create the most joy-filled and happy days of a person’s life. Still, I want to share more of my story, especially as I am surrounded by the love and support of my family, friends, colleagues, and clients. One week ago today, I woke up to the devastating news that my baby brother Liam had tragically passed away. He was only 26 years young. To borrow from his beautiful obituary: Liam was an adventurous soul with a thirst for life and experiencing all it had to offer. His short life ensures that he will miss much, but during his days, he experienced life to the fullest. He camped in the winter desert for 40 days, canoed for days down wild rivers of the west, skied the highest peaks in the USA, hiked harsh trails, rode fast cars and bikes, cooked pizza in the foothills of Italy, and dove ocean’s reefs. He visited large parts of the world and loved to learn and experience other cultures, including having lived in Australia with his cherished family. Liam treasured the differences in people and believed that we are all the better off when we learn from each other. He especially adored and was sensitive to animals, working with therapy horses and volunteering in shelters, and was loved and trusted back by many animal friends in return. He was adored as a son, brother, friend, and uncle- being loved by Fitz, Penny, and Kick was a constantly astonishing gift that brought him more joy than he could describe. He fought addiction for much of his short life with bravery and strength that is almost unfathomable. It is this battle that sadly took his life. Although it was a complicated journey for him and our family, we can say unwaveringly that there was so much love and happiness shared among us. And now, each of us stands together with pieces of our hearts missing. Silence would mean Liam’s death was in vain, but if one person's life is saved by his story, we would tell it a million more times. **continued in comments..
