Did you know that kids who read are more likely to report higher self-esteem than those who don’t read? In fact, studies show that students who are confident in themselves even have higher GPAs! One way to help your kids boost their self-esteem is by building their reading confidence. Check out a few of our tips below!
🧸 Read to a new audience: Instead of having them read to you, encourage your kid to read to the family pet, a toy, or their younger sibling–anyone who won’t make them feel judged while reading!
🎉 Celebrate small accomplishments: Remind them (and yourself!) just how far they’ve come. Praising them through their reading journey will encourage them to keep going.
🔎 Find new materials to read: Big books can be intimidating. Look for items in their everyday life that they can try reading. It could be anything from words on the TV, board games, or the back of the cereal box!
