Just one week ago I lost the best man I’ve ever known. My Father’s passing was sudden and unexpected. However, this is not a sad post, this is a celebration of a remarkable man that left behind quite a legacy. To those that knew him, count yourself blessed. - Allen Howard Boice was the most incredible, heroic person imaginable. Both in his role as a law enforcement officer and as a civilian, he saved lives on the Rogue River, earning himself the Medal of Valor. He was also recognized by the State of Oregon for saving the life of a man at the Douglas County Courthouse. He fought in the Vietnam War, spent 30+ years in public service, built a huge network of loyal friends, and mastered the art of traditional bow building. - It’s hard to put into words who my Dad was. He was selfless, brave, and honorable. He was fiercely loyal and a man of tremendous faith. He gave all glory to God and had no fear of death. - My Dad taught me how to be a man and how to take care of the ones you love. How to be there for people, how to take responsibility, and how to take action. He loved my Mother unconditionally and was a wonderful example how to be a loving partner. I can’t even express how fortunate I feel to have had him as my Father. - If there’s one thing this heartbreak has taught me, it’s to appreciate the moments you have. Never take your time for granted, never wait for tomorrow. Book the flight, take the trip, make the time. You never know what life has in store. - I love you Dad and I will see you again.
