With its imposing concrete and glass structures, Amgen’s office in Mexico City matches the cosmopolitan cityscape in which it is located. The building’s architecture alludes to the once majestic Mayan city of Calakmul, with each of its elements representing the living image of a Mayan deity or symbol. The Mexico City office opened in 2006 as a clinical research office, and in 2010 expanded to include commercial operations, focused on addressing unmet medical needs and making innovative treatments available to patients. Today, 209 employees work for Amgen Mexico. Since 2019, Amgen Mexico has been the business distributor for Amgen's Latin America (LATAM) region, which includes commercial distribution in Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, and Costa Rica. Amgen Mexico is well-recognized for its Environmental, Social & Governance work as well as its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The site partners with Pride Connection Mexico, which promotes the professional development of the LGBTQ+ community, Aequales Community, which advocates for closing the gender gap in the workplace, and Éntrale, an initiative of the Mexican Business Council, which creates opportunities for workers with disabilities.
