As performance training evolves, greater emphasis must be placed on blending technical, tactical, and physical qualities. Through a conjugated/blocked approach, each ability can be emphasized at specific times of the year. Siloing these abilities can create a disconnect that leads to poor transfer on game day
An early off-season example for our bigs includes re-identifying weight distribution and allowing individual exploration of positioning (technique vs. style) to take on contact from a technical standpoint. This is paired with general combative contact prep to establish leverage, posture, and conditioning, and finishes with general strength training to ensure the body is prepared to tolerate more intensive demands as the off-season progresses.
