Playing with light There is no right or wrong in photography. It all depends on what you want to show to your audience. But understand light and play with it, more importantly understand exposure / metering in camera and use it. Beyond that you also need to understand about post processing. In this case in image 1 I over exposed to get details in the subject but yet retaining the hues of the sky. Of course, I had to do some selective processing on just the lions and lower portion of the image. I used the selective masking in Lightroom for that. In image 2, I under exposed the lions to get a silhouette and again using masking technique in Lightroom did some selective processing. — Become the photographer you always wanted to be.
